Educating and informing those who own or have an interest in historic buildings is an important part of the service offered by HBAS.
A large element of the work of HBAS is to help overcome the misconceptions, modern myths and general lack of knowledge that surrounds historic buildings, whether these are listed or not. Much of this general lack of knowledge concerns how to work in an appropriate manner to maintain a building’s fabric and character.
Our education and training has the object of widening the knowledge base of those dealing with historic buildings and landscapes to ensure proper and appropriate methods of conservation and restoration. It also provides current background thought and philosophy on the subject.
